Meet Pollie and Darren, a millennial couple who recently moved into a moderately-sized house on a homogenous cul-de-sac in the vaguely patriotic town of Rosevale, NY. After Pollie signs up to volunteer at the nonprofit where Darren works, she’s assigned to a penpal program where she’s paired to correspond with Monet Jean-Jardin, a Burundian refugee. And that’s when things start to get very, very weird.
